A Message of Hope, Healing & Freedom

Pastor Mark Sowersby shares a powerful message of hope for those who have experienced hurt, trauma, disappointment, or seasons that have left them wondering where God is in their story.

Through his own story and the message of Forgiving the Nightmare, Mark points audiences toward Jesus Christ and reminds them that what happened to you does not have to define you.

A Message That Meets People Where They Are

Churches. Conferences. Retreats. Camps. Men’s and women’s gatherings. Mark’s heart is the same wherever he speaks: to share the Gospel, point people to Jesus, and offer hope to those carrying pain.

Mark knows what it is like to live through a nightmare. He also knows the freedom that can come through faith, forgiveness, and surrender.

His message reaches people in the middle of their stories with a powerful reminder:

God has not forgotten you. Your story isn’t over.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
— Matthew 11:28

What Audiences Can Expect

Mark speaks from the heart, combining his personal story, biblical truth, and years of ministry experience to connect with people in a genuine and relatable way.

At the heart of his message are three truths:

  • Jesus loves you. His love is more than words—it was demonstrated through His sacrifice for us.
  • Your nightmare does not have to become your identity. What happened to you may always be part of your story, but it does not have to determine how your story ends.
  • God can write a new chapter. Healing may happen suddenly or unfold slowly through prayer, surrender, growth, and grace. Either way, God is still at work.

Mark wants people to leave encouraged to believe that hope, healing, forgiveness, and freedom are possible.

More Than a Message

For Mark, some of the most meaningful moments happen after the speaking ends.

At Forgiving the Nightmare services, Mark makes room for people to pray, reflect, and respond. He has watched people begin to surrender burdens they have carried for years.

During one service, a woman approached Mark for prayer. Through tears, she shared that it was her sister’s birthday and that the two had not spoken in a long time.

As they prayed, something changed.

She realized how much she missed her sister. Right there, she pulled out her phone and reached out to her for the first time in years.

It was a simple step—but a powerful one.

Sometimes forgiveness begins with one surrendered heart, one prayer, one act of obedience, or even one text message.

Those are the moments that remind Mark why he shares his story.

Forgiving the Nightmare

Mark’s message is born from his own journey of overcoming the pain and trauma of his childhood. Today, through Forgiving the Nightmare, he uses that story to help others understand that they don’t have to remain trapped by what happened to them.

His goal isn’t simply to tell his story. It is to help others begin to see what God can do with theirs.

The nightmare doesn’t have to be the end of the story.
